PCB design tools place symbols and footprints from a component library. The quality of the library has direct impact on the quality of the designs. Building and maintaining a good library is not so easy, because components can become obsolete, similar components are available from multiple vendors and production processes from two fabricators might require different geometries and rules for the symbols and footprints.

Ultra Librarian is a solution to search for schematic symbols, PCB footprints and 3D models in the internet. It is integrated into Cadence schematic tools OrCAD Capture and Allegro System Capture. Selected parts are automatically downloaded into a local library while parts are placed from the search result onto the schematic canvas. The content is build by EMA in collaboration with component manufacturers. Many components are free to use.
The SiliconExpert component database includes a lot of logistic background information for millions of components including passives, semiconductors, and electrometrical components. It helps to compare similar components to simplify decision making. Easily identify components at risk and gain insight into electronic component lifecycle status, multi-sourcing, available inventory and predicted years to end of life data. Identify non-compliant components with data for environmental and governmental legislation such as RoHS, REACH and conflict minerals.
